Personal Profile

Qi Wang, female, Distinguished Researcher, Doctoral Supervisor, Member of the Communist Party of China. She obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Science from Qingdao Agricultural University in 2011, and her Doctor of Philosophy degree in Medicinal Chemistry from Ocean University of China in 2016 (integrated master's and doctoral program). She was awarded the National Scholarship for Doctoral Students in 2015. She joined Qingdao University in 2016 and completed her postdoctoral training at Hefei Institutes of Physical Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences from 2017 to 2018. She was appointed Associate Professor of Qingdao University in January 2024 and joined Nanchang University as a Distinguished Researcher (high-level talent) in October 2025. Since her master's and doctoral studies, she has been engaged in research related to marine natural medicinal chemistry. Currently, she has published 14 series of research papers as first author/corresponding author (including co-first author and co-corresponding author) in authoritative journals in the field such as Organic Letters, Journal of Natural Products and The Journal of Organic Chemistry. She has applied for 3 national invention patents, presided over General Program and Youth Program of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and participated in the Young Scientists Project of the National Key Research and Development Program of the Ministry of Science and Technology as a sub-project leader.

Research Directions

Efficient discovery of new structures of characteristic alkaloids from Xisha sponges guided by UV tracking;Construction of high-throughput screening models for biological activities suitable for marine small molecules and in-depth mining of marine drug lead compounds;Biosynthesis research of sponge-derived characteristic alkaloid families indicated by crude enzyme reaction.
